    Re: Squirmos87's R32 GTR

It cannot be any R32 GTR, it has to be 1989 GTRs since they officially are exempt under the 25 yo or older importation rule. @ squirmos87, you should sell your GTR before 2014, I bet you paid north of at least $20K....unless you want to keep this car as your baby. As the years roll on, you may get our hands on a V-SPEC II which are worth a lot more.

LOL wanna hear something sad ? ^

When I was in FL... my friend of mine is a Private Importer with Hookups on Registering a JDM car along with US Customs. I went with him to pick up a load of JDM cars and the cars were: Supra, 2x S15, White R34 GTR Vspec II, and R32 GTR White...

the R32 picked up was making around 650hp I believe and Man that thing was BAD ASS... White TE37!! I got to drive it around for like a 2 weeks like it was mine.... He ended up selling it for 18K and his purchase price well... I can say but 18K was sure a nice little profit. Legit Cars and everything.

Only on this thread I will mention it... But in about 18 Months from now... I should be picking up a JDM Evo 9 =) Very Very few here in the states that are Legit and not chopped. I do know that the Kid that about the R32 now lives in NY and the Person that about the R34 is out Here... I never met the person or whoever bought the R34 but I know they live in SoCal and the Car was Trailered from FL to Out here. R34 was bought around Either 73-83K

Very doubtful that JDM 9 is legit since they cannot be federalized.

Being I personally saw a jdm 9 in tx and a jdm rr9 in ny there's ways around it. None of my cars will be on CA plates as they will be FL registered

Thumbs up Revival!!! My GTR's journey.

So....i decided to revive this thread. Although i have sold my Evo, i continue to lurk on this site. I have to be 100% honest, this is the best car forum i have ever been a part of. The people on this site are great. Further more, i will be returning to So Cal after a move in 2012 which included Okinawa and Dubai (still currently in Dubai) and it would be great to link up with some of the guys/girls i met via this site. I know most people on here love their Evos but can appreciate different cars so ill gladly share the journey I've endured with my R32 GTR...

How to start this...i wrecked the thing 4 days after seeing it for the first time after my return from Afghanistan (November 2011). It wasn't terrible but it definitely sucked. The front bumper, lip, N1 ducts, ARC intercooler, and driver side headlight were messed up. I didn't have many days for leave so i kinda just put it back in storage and decided to repair it when i had more time. Shortly after returning to Cali to get back to work stuff was a little hectic. i had been in a few IED incidents while in Afghan and had to go through MRIs and all kinds of other medical crap. I then started preparing for another deployment, was selected for promotion, attended a formal schooling and blah blah blah...the GTR was given the cold shoulder needless to say.

In the midst of all the work i was doing in Cali, i did my best to contact my friend and only person allowed to touch the car, the original seller, so we could source replacement parts and begin on getting the GTR back to where she needed to be. The OEM parts cost me about $1000 total (shipped and unpainted) after searching for about 6 weeks. The ARC intercooler either needed to be replaced or re-cored... No big deal right? I mean, easy fix and she would be back on the road, right? Wrong!

Around the same time the engine started making a loud ticking sound! Yeah...i forgot the precise problem but it was located in the block and was going to cost me a fortune.

The first generation RB26s were notorious for oil deprivation and this one was no different. The engine was going to need a rebuild or replacement. I didn't have the time to deal with anything at this point because i was given orders to Okinawa Japan for April 2012. All my focus was put into preparing for a PCS. Long story short, i moved and was thrown into a crazy/hectic routine in Oki and completely lost sight of the GTR. I missed it though...all i wanted to do was go back home and fix it and drive it again. Taking leave wasn't a possibility due to the work pace so i did what any other enthusiast would do...i purchased another R32 GTR (1989 as well) so i could import it when i came back.

    (2nd GTR)

I could have a pair of GTRs. One could be a parts car if need be or even a track car and a street car. That idea didn't last long. About 1 month after purchasing the car and driving that GTR literally less than 5 times (I had to go to the Philippines immediately after the purchase) I was selected to go to Dubai for a training mission where i would be needed as an adviser again (like i had done in Afghan with the Republic of Georgia's Army). I would have to be gone for an entire year and would literally only have 1 month left on Okinawa before having to PCS yet again. In my mind this left me no time to arrange shipment and everything else i would have needed to do so i decided to sell the car as quickly as possible and ended up taking a sizable loss financially. (lowered the price to sell fast + lost on insurance originally pair in advance) Well, after that i packed all my crap and left it with a buddy and only took essentials to Dubai. It was rumored to be a great gig so i ran with it. Well, that was an understatement. Everything i need is literally paid for which enabled me to save way more than i was doing before + the work wasn't nearly as hectic as it was in Japan. This was my opportunity to make liaison with my buddy and get my GTR running correctly again. This is when stuff got stupid.

I decided to spare no cost on not only restoring her to her former glory but instead making her one of the nicest examples on the road. It was all a blur but these are things that were done so far:

    · R33 GTR engine + transmission
    · Carbon Fujimura Auto Rocket Dancer Aero Flap
    · NISMO trunk sticker
    · 265/35/18 Federal 595 RSR tires
    · Intercooler re-core
    · Top Secret replica rear diffuser
    · Abflug replica front diffuser
    · Apexi air filters
    · Attain Carbon GT exhaust shield
    · OEM NISMO N1 side skirt
    · GTR Trunk Emblem
    · N1 Hood lip
    · Nissan Trunk Emblem
    · "S" hood emblem
    · Bride seat (sourcing the 2nd asap)
    · NISMO S tune oil filler cap
    · Bride seat rail X2
    · OEM GT fender emblems
    · Nardi steering wheel
    · NRG quick release
    · NISMO floor mats
    · R32 GTR rain guards
    · Titanium shift knob
    · Defi gauges (boost, oil temp, and oil pressure) + control unit HUD

Those are all the items that have been compiled since about July or August of this year. More items are to follow surely. The engine has been replace with the compatible parts from the last engine (Tomei cams, disco potato turbos, intercooler piping, down pipe, Greddy oil pan, Blitz exhaust and some other things as well.

It will be getting a fresh coat of paint and after that the aesthetics will be mounted. I know threads without photos suck so i will be updating this as quickly as possible with more photos. Thanks for reading my revival so far. There is more to come.

I've seen some rare R32s in Cali roads. Your enthusiasm goes beyond nismo royalty Best of luck with your rebuild !

I was always a big fan of the Calsonic R32 from the GT series and the Nismo 400R

Thanks! I fall in love with it every time an update comes about or new part is purchased. I will say i definitely miss the availability and price of Evo parts in comparison though.

Before i head to work (im literally 12 hours different from Cali) i decided to post a few more things up

This is a link to the first start up with the R33 GTR RB26
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMFP...e_gdata_player

These are some of the parts sourced and either currently being shipped or just waiting to be installed:

    Top Secret rear diffuser (replica)

Carbon Fujimura Auto Rocket Dancer Aero Flap

    Re-cored ARC intercooler

265/35/18 Federal RSR tires (BTW: that AE86 is kinda sporting a Lexus V8...the owner/builder/fabricator is the guy i got my car from. if wanted, ill post links of his build on that car)

    Abflug front diffuser (replica)

And lastly for this post, this is how she sits while she waits for her paint job, rim refinish, aesthetics and likely tons of more changes...

    More photos!

    More photos!

This is another photo of how she is currently sitting (N1 ducts are not in the bumper yet)

The ARC was test fitted real quickly just to make sure all was working correctly

OEM N1 side skirts that will obviously be cleaned up and repainted (genuine OEM parts for this car are becoming rarer and harder to find and cost an arm and a leg!)

And lastly, this R32 GTR is one of my favorites! This car has a lot to do with the direction im going in. I will be ordering some canards like this one has plus ive been trying to inquire with multiple companies on getting some carbon side skirt extensions like this one has. they are one off from what im told. the only route i see feasible is buying some that fit an after market side skirt and then having them custom mounted/trimmed accordingly...? im hoping to link up or find someone with a good knowledge on either body work and/or carbon to help out.

Thanks mans, and yeah... lol! I got impatient and just wanted to drive a GTR again so i found that purple one and bought it. The rides were totally different though. My stateside GTR retains a twin turbo set up and with the disco potato turbos...literally damn near no lag! She spools and just pulls. The purple GTR i had in Oki was fun but it had a big T78 Greddy turbo. It moved when the power came on but damn that thing lagged terribly. It reminding me on my GT35 setup i had on my VIII.
