Thanks. I will start with Home Depot first... my battery doesn't hold the charge anymore.

Damn, even used Snap On's keep their value......crazy.

I think I'm leaning towards Dewalt or Makita.

A local pawn shop has a SnapOn 12v for $325... looks like two batteries, light and a case. Worth the price?

Great info here. You guys just convinced me to get a new Makita cordless impact wrench.

the 12v might be too weak to take off lugs.

should be fine,i use my 18v just for runnin the lugs on and off, when taking them off i crack them first with a breaker bar and when i put them on i barely let the impact function come alive then torque em down to 85 llbs

Well, from what I know about electric tools/motors, the amps are more important than the volts. But that rating did seem kind of low.

very true more amps in power tools is what your looking for but with impacts the number you need to look at is the llb/ft number, thats the torque number, the higher the better

    OK, Craftsman wasn't mentioned before.^

Do you know if it has a lifetime warranty like all other Craftsman??

He said it works great with the other battery. Total price is around 200 with upgraded battery. To be honest I wouldn't know.

I've been using my dewalt cordless for many years, totally worth it.

If I was looking for one now, I'll get the newer dewalt lithium battery ones.

Sears lifetime warranty is on hand tools.

I've used an Ingersoll Rand impact and it was very nice. It was a Toyota mechanic that owned it.

Snapon is priced cause it is the best usually but if you're not a professional mechanic wrenching all day, probably overkill unless you got the money to burn.

I will be honest, I use the 18v lithium DeWalt impact (driver) with the 3/8 socket adapter. It will do the job. It tightens them to around 60ftlbs. Plus its smaller, and can be used for all jobs around the house. I swap slicks out all the time and just go back around and put a little turn on each one by hand for good measure. And most aftermarket lug nuts with a spline tool specifically say not to impact them on. Its a good multi tool
