...But the last date of posting on this topic was 3/25/2013...not that long ago...the limitations and settings of the coil can dependent on the manufacturer's settings and the alignment/ suspension expert that puts them on and manipulates them. If the coil is used, of course, one can be limited because of the variable use and abuse from the previous owner's coilover care (praying that the coil was not blown and/ or the coilover is not worn to its last life - then again, it could be rebuilt to one's own personal specs lol). But heck, everyone has their two cents...what works for one may not work for another...

    but anyways.
You're absolutely right as far as choices, rebuilds and alignment settings. However with nowadays if you happen to be on a budget you have plenty of options.

Imo I rather buy something to my specs, then expect for things to be ok when you purchase used items.
Of course not everyone thinks alike and just my .02 cents.

To add my .02 to the necro post whoring, I wouldn't buy JICs these days unless you knew for a fact they were like brand new. Since JIC went under and you can't get parts to rebuild them anymore...

That's one of many things that can go wrong with a used set.
Still stand by my statement about use parts. Suspension being one of them.

Unless you obtain the proper support and somewhat of a warranty behind the product.

if you buy megan coilovers for a good price, they are good with their support for replacment parts. the cartridge are about $100 each and replacement boots which deteriorate over time are $9 each.

Jic Japan is gone but USA operations are still strong in Alhambra. I'm sure they can rebuild them.

That doesn't make any sense... The main company is gone but a subsidiary is still good? Sounds like someone is just selling off whatever stock they have left in the warehouse before closing up shop.

All I know is a month or two ago, I asked Mullerized if they could rebuild and adjust a set of JICs I was thinking of buying from another member. The answer was no because they couldn't get parts for them. I would think if they could just drive down the road to Alhambra to get parts, they would be able to do it.

I met the owner. They got some USA made versions coming out.

Their website shows rebuild rates so I'd assume they would have spare parts for the Japan version.
