To e85 or to not? help!

ok so basically, I am getting good and bad news on e85. Some people are saying they are frying their rings and rebuilding their heads due to the hot burning alcohol. Some say they are doing fine with just stock internals. whom should I follow? I have an 8 MR where I plan to keep internals stock (maybe cams..maybe). I have a turboback, intake, injectors, fuel pump, 3 port and intercooler waiting to be put on. so, to dual map or not? thanks!!

It's up to you, there are plenty of people that runs e85 daily and have no issues. Only down side is that it burns 30% quicker, so not really recommended for daily driving but if you are carrying extra fuel jugs or around e85 stations go for it.

My friend has ran straight E 85 for 8 months now striaght on his 2006 mr and he beats that car. No problems at all. Once you run E 85 you won't want to run 91 anymore.

Do it! Personally I haven't heard or read of any evos frying rings from e85... Â*and if they did it was prob from a wack ass tune. Get some nice cams and you will be more than happy.

I've been running it since 08 on my 03 Evo 8, currently at 117,+++ miles and that I know of no issues. I do run a tank of 91 here and there though. I have all stock internals. Only issue I have is cold start up. Takes forever to start her up in the mornings or when it's super cold. :-/

The cold start issue can be fixed easily. Mine starts easy in 35-40 degree weather after sitting over night. Need to adjust the ipw/cranking enrichment tables.

I don't have access not the knowledge to change that I know they enriched a the start up map a long time by adding a lot of fuel on start up but my issue never went away

2011 GSR is easy-breezy for a dual map now and for a while.

Where are you talking to the burning rings E-85 people? In person? On the phone? Internets somewhere?
