At first I thought you were simply trolling...but now I think you're just being misunderstood. There is a difference, that being the floating three diamond emblem. It seems most people are saying it's similar to a nose chop aside from the emblem. I could be completely off on this, lol.

There is also a difference in the width of the lip underneath the grill. The Evo 9 bumper is like 1.5" thinner.

But if people can't see the difference between the top of an Evo 9 front bumper and an Evo 8 nose chop, then I'm really at a loss for words...

I see the diff you're talking about. On my 8 nose chop it's a lot wider where the chop is compared to yours. But an 8 chop is an 8 chop.

Your chop is awesome though! Gives people an option on preferences now.

Except that this isn't an Evo 8 chop. It's from an Evo 9. Do you understand what I am saying? The part from the 8 was cut out and the Evo 9 bumper was plasti-welded in.

In the Evo vernacular, an Evo 8 chop connotes that the triangle with the Mitsubishi symbol was chopped off but the rest of the bumper remains.

With this mod, the entire Evo 8 section was cut out and replaced with an Evo 9 bumper piece. So no, considering what most people call a chop, I wouldn't call it that since its a lot more complex.

And, by calling it a chop, you're muddying the waters between the complexity of this mod and simply chopping the triangle off. If this were easy to do, someone would have done it a long time ago. But they didn't. And as far as I know, I'm the first.

The frontal shot flattens the picture. What about "The center section is from an Evo 9" do you not understand? Not to mention, you have an Evo 9 in your avatar...so I guess you see no difference in the center grill of your car and the white Evo chop you posted.

Oh fuck it, I give up...

we are just giving you a hard time.. we just never actually though a person would actually chop off the grill of another bumper just to put on a different bumper.. when in reality all of us would have just chopped off the nose.. and made a custom grill ><

    +1

I actually do notice a bit of a difference. Looking at the edges of the upper portion, you can see they a bit skinner on yours than on a chop 8 nose.

i dont know why this guy is getting his panties in a bunch trying to explain a very small difference between a chopped ebo 8 bumper and his frankenstein bumper. At first glance it looks like a normal evo 8 chop, cant blame anybody for not knowing the difference. kudos to you for being different

The grill area is a touch different than my chopped 8 bumper.

A IX grill does fit though... and I don't have negative space. Just pie cut the sides of the "nose", heated it up, layed it flat, then plastiwelded it in place. It's probably the same amount of work to do what you did and to nose chop it my way and easier to make it look good your way. I probably would have done it that way if I had a IX bumper laying around.

You can always trim down the grill section of the 8 bumper by a 1/2 an inch to match the 9 bumper.
Could have saved the time, and don't have to buy another bumper.

If someone can mend a IX bumper + and VIII bumper, then they can trim a grill by a half inch.
That seems to be the same thing.

Haven't had an VIII or a IX for a while.
The difference is quite minimal IMO.
I like what you did to it, clean work and innovation at its best.
Next time Erik, you have to give a power point presentation that indicates all the differences between
the two. Lol at this point in time, it looks like apples to me lol.

I don't see the difference from the Evo 8 nose chop to this one. Ill be doing my nose chop in a month.

edit: I just see the bumper thinner next to the headlights.
