Questions coming into the tuning area

Hey guys, I got a 2014 evo x that im starting to build and honestly am really hesitating to go on with the build because of all the stuff i have heard about their engines blowing this and that. My question here is " I know that not all motors are indestructible but I want to build around 350 WHP or so but the reason for hesitation is that i will have it as a daily driver. What mods/ Tunes (shops) would you guys recommend for me. A list of parts needed/ supporting mods would be good and remember i have had this car for about 4 months now and the budget is around 2k. Safe reliable to DD and get the performance out of it. Should i rely on a evo x motor to survive or should i just not even try and sell the car after im done with it? give me feedback if you have blown a motor or anything and also to note that i also have a bmw and knowing bmw owners i baby my cars and dont smash on it( only once in a while like 3rd gear pulls and canyons). I honestly need feed back because from what im hearing its not that reliable to DD. But hay im just here to learn more. Thanks in advance!!

    Brand new Evo , nice!

350whp goal as a daily driver is totally doable. Do a little research on quality exhaust, intercooler and intake parts. The key will be getting the car tuned properly from someone willing to take their time and doing it right .

If you're in Glendale then KT Motoring or Road Race Engineering are about the same distance away from you.

Just bear in mind that 350whp on the Road Race Dynapack is roughly about 315whp on the KT Motoring Dyno Dynamics (I think that's what they have), so don't feel cheated if you go to KT and get a relatively lower number.

It'll cost you about $3,000 to $4,000 to get there, depending on options.

Quick and dirty ballpark breakdown for parts:
$100 3 port boost control solenoid
    $300 intake
    $600-1000 exhaust
$200 test pipe or HF cat (+$50 more)
    $600+ intercooler
    $600 upper/lower piping
    $500 downpipe
    $500 tune

Prices are approximate (depending on brand) and do not include install.

You CAN reduce your costs significantly if you decide to make the switch to e85, but that comes with its own set of drawbacks, but basically only require new injectors, fuel pump, and a tune at the very minimum (drop-in air filter and exhaust necessary I believe). It's worth a consideration if you don't drive long distances and have a lot of ethanol stations close by.

^ +1 ... that's a good place to start. You can find a bunch of info on the forums. Just do some research, and decide which brands you prefer.
