    From a 9 to X.....

As some of you may know, I recently sold my 9 to a fellow forum member, maybe about a month or so ago. My brother wanted to get into something different, so rather than him losing out on something he bought recently, I took over his Evo X, but sold my 9.
I may be one of the only people here who has jumped ship from a 8/9 to a X and did not regret it. Or at least I haven't yet. I enjoy the minor updates the X has, (fastkey, no cable driven bullshit hvac controls, glorious plastic interior everywhere lol etc.) Don't get me wrong, I love the 9, and if I was building a car to track I would def get a 9, but it felt too old inside. As if I was driving an EG Civic with Recaros. It is based off an Evo 7 which was first released in 2001 probably so I can't expect it to be very modern, and the X isn't exactly a huge upgrade as far as technology goes, but I'm happy with it.

Either way I'm happy. I would love to own an 8 or 9 again one day, but for now I'm with happy with the X.

Here are a few pics of my 9 I sold, a few pics of the X when I got it from my brother, and of course, a some tiny mods that will go into the X lol

The X last month as I got it, swapped the Eibach springs (pictured below) for KW V3's, and bought new fender vents lol:

My brother had a few mods, AMS downpipe, exhaust. I got rid of most of them and started from scratch. Within a few weeks parts started to arrive:

Just installed the ETS intercooler a few nights ago

Still waiting on my fuel pump setup and turbo. Will update pics as they come.

If this is your DD I would agree the X is just light years better than the 9 in terms of comfort...

Yeah exactly, as a DD I like it better. It's not exactly luxurious or anything but its the little things I appreciate. Not having to take my key out of my pocket, windows roll up a little bit faster lol. I just wish the passenger window was auto roll up too. Obviously both cars are great. It just seems as if everyone regrets the move. I, as of now, haven't.

I mean there are things I also don't like about the X. I feel as if the A pillars are a lot wider, sometimes obstructing my view, and the obvious things like weight increase over the 9, rear sub rattle etc. Minor stuff I guess.

I feel bad for the newer X owners with FastKey, they have to press the door button for it to unlock and lock. I hate pressing that little button to lock the door. It's so tiny.

Nice IX man, looked dope. The only way to satisfy your Evo itch is to have both the X and the IX tbh. Stole that from Mike W hahaha.

I love my X, although I didn't switch, I just added the X to my collection.

The X is great to take to vegas, or any other small road trips. Haven't really found anything I don't like about the X.

If only it were easy for us common folks here to have a collection rather than to choose which one. LOL. I envy those collections of cars!

Hahah yea I understand... Believe me, It's been a long time coming.

I thought I was going to have regrets on buying the X, since it was SOOO different from my 8. But I love this car, very comfortable and Drives nice.

i'm going backwards. I'm looking forward to someday buying a 9 and I drive an X already. But i'll hopefully be keeping the X when I make that purchase in the future.

I don't think I've ever spoken to anybody who has said anything bad about the CT9A. It's a fantastic car.

One day I hope to get another one and keep my X.

cable driven bullshit? Are you kidding me? I'd take cable driven bullshit over crappy nonresponsive electronic throttle.

I think it might be the worst decision ever :P , but if you're happy with it, that's awesome! Welcome to the X club

Too old inside? How old are you? I'd take that 9 any time, any day, any year.. I love the X. It feels like my 300 pound girlfriend is with me in the car even though she's not.

I was actually speaking of the hvac controls. Not the throttle cable.

I have both an 8 and a X. The fiance is out of town this week so I've been driving the X to and from work. The first day while I wasn't fully awake, I was driving and wanted to overtake someone and I thought "Where the crap is all of my power?! Oh wait...".

I love the creature comforts of the X but it is very hard to beat the smaller footprint, lighter weight, and nimbleness of the 8/9. The HVAC cables on the 8 are junk and I haven't torn apart the dash to fix mine. Throttle response on the X is not as immediate as the 8 (electric throttle and MR/SST). Stock suspension on both so understeer is fun with both.

    Slapped on some MR wheels.

I installed most of my engine parts, downpipe, exhaust, intercooler piping, intercooler, walbro 400. I had my GSC s2 and valvetrain installed last week by tuning tech. They installed my clutch as well.

My turbo shipped last week finally. Will update when I install that. Then put the injectors on and tune it.

I love my X minus the interior and I wish the seats were lower.

I'm actually thinking of going from a X to a IX.
