    Speeding ticket help

    Greetings all felllow socalevo members.

This morning on my way to school in Pasadena, I was driving on a 40mph zone(San Gabriel Blvd northbound) on the right lane. As I was speeding up to about 45mph to pass the car and change to the left lane, my V1 suddenly beeped with the laser warning then I saw the cop next to me hiding at somebody's driveway. Later I was ticketed for doing a 49 on a 35mph zone, which I later found out the cop was setting up his speed trap about 70 yards from a 35mph speed limit sign(yes I did go back to measure it). 2 main points to mention, I am 100% positive that I was going 45 at most and is that legal for him to set up a speed trap that close to a reduced speed limit? Any thoughts on this guys? Thanks ahead

    Pasadena Police?

Was he 70 yards before the sign or after? Did he show you the radar gun indicating 49?

Yes, Pasadena police. He was 70 yards after the sign pointing to people who haven't reach the sign yet. And no he didn't show me his laser gun.

Same thing happend to me. Cop was hiding on the next street after the high school. I was going fast and slammed on my brakes when I saw him, but I was still moving about the same speed as you were when the cop got me on the laser gun. He showed me the reading and even took a picture of my hardcoreracing license plate frame. Ticket was around $450 for me. Cop doesn't have to show you the reading. Just pay it and be more careful next time.

Yeah its honestly hard to get out of a speeding ticket imo. Dont bother going through all that hassle, just a waste of time. Pay the fine and just be careful next time.

You guys give up way to easily. I always go to court to state my case, of the 3 times i've been twice the cop didnt show up and once the judge ruled in my favor as the police officer misjudged my speed coming down in a school zone.

Its up to the judge to decide. If you win hey pay the court fee and go on your way and if you lose pay the fine, go to traffic school and save yourself from insurance raping you when they see that infraction from your driving record.

    You guys are silly.

It's basically proven that Trial by Declaration = the easiest/most likely way you will beat your ticket.

This may sound kind of bad, but I've beaten more than half of my tickets through TBD.

As far as the ticket goes
Gather all your evidence (the measurements you have stated) and go to trial
But be weary he took a picture of your license plate frame for a reason and might present that to the judge.
Last thing you want is the judge thinking you're drift king or something then there's no way you'll beat it.

Everyone says that. Blaze even has a nice cute sticky which convinced me to try it on my last two tickets. Followed the instructions to the letter, and even had a good argument because the cop put down the wrong information on the ticket. Didn't matter, lost anyways. If you have the time I'd say go for it. If you don't then don't feel bad like you just gave your money away.

How I fight a ticket is to have a change of venue to the downtown courts. Cops don't wanna go into downtown in the morning.

Im pretty sure it isnt that would be a good way to fight a ticket lj

tbd and if you lose that you basically have to go into court i believe you get to extend via the phone once, then go into the courthouse and extend the ticket 2 more times then go in, at this point usually the cop does not show lol

Guys, thanks for all the inputs, I ended up doing a TBD and court got my ticket dismissed last week.
I simply just wrote down the face that the speed limit is artificially low due to the fact that all area south from that point has a speed limit of 40.
On the note section the judge wrote down true fact.
I don't know what that meant but I got it dismissed and just want to give everyone an update.

To me seems like he did his homework and did his part. I honestly have no clue what the judge meant on the comment/remark section. I heard that if you just write not guilty the cop could make whatever up? Something like ______(your name) was going ___bound at speed of __ mph and it was clocked with radar and it would get you guilty?
