2014 Lancer Evolution Recalled for Leaking Fluid and Fire Risk

I just read this post from Edmunds, so just in case a new owner is interested.
"The affected vehicles may have insufficient clearance between the power steering pressure tube and the cross-member brace," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "Due to abrasion and rust, a hole may develop in the power steering tube, allowing the fluid to leak out, resulting in added steering effort, increasing the risk of a crash.
"Additionally, the leaking fluid increases the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source, such as a hot engine or exhaust component."
The automaker told federal safety regulators it is "unaware of any injuries and/or accidents related to this issue."

As a side note, subaru issued another recall, but include more model years. Again mitsubishi still winning over subaru on this :)

2008-'14 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Among Vehicles Recalled for Corrosion Problem

    • Subaru of America is recalling 660,238 vehicles in the U.S., including the 2008-'14 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, because the brake lines may fail due to corrosion.

When mitsubishi takes ownership of the dumb ACD pump failing, then i'll believe its winning over subaru. Still bitter as shit that an integral part of the 4wd system is not part of the powertrain warranty. complete bs.
