    Smog and passed

Hopefully I'm putting this in correct section, About 3 weeks ago i went to do smog fearing i wouldn't pass with my mods and i got pretty scared. But surprisingly i passed and everything went well. Smog tech was picky and tried to say my intake wasn't carb legal but i showed him the sticker and he kinda just said whatever. I also put the stock Cat back on and I was running e85 so that probably helped a bunch.

    List of Mods:
    -Cosworth m2 Cams
    -Arp headstuds
    -Rc 1000cc injectors
    -Mxp Downpipe
    -Ams intercooler
    -Ets Licp
    -Hks Hi power exhaust
    -Gm 3 port
    -Aem Intake
-Stock 9 turbo and o2 housing
    -Walbro 255
    -E85
-Stock Cat but normally run a HFC(But pretty much a test pipe now.)

It all depends on the tech, if a tech is feeling lazy one day he'll probably just check to see if the cats there then overlook everything else.

Want to post a pic of the results sheet? I'm curious to see where everything is at.

    What is your idle speed?

^^From what my smog guy told me is that the star stations aren't much different just monitored by the dmv via camera. He also said that older cars and repeated failures will trigger the star requirements for people.

My car passed with the mods below and E85 (with CAT of course). My only concern was visual and my RPM's jumping over the required level, in the end it all worked out fine. The tech did ask about my ARC box but didn't push the issue. I'll be switching to the AEM in the next few months just to make it easier in the future.

Yeah, it just needs to be in the car. Trunk, glove box... anywhere in the car and you are good to go. This is the cat I used last time I smogged my Mirage.

It all depends on what the smog tech that you get that day notices on that day and what he cares about that day. There is no guaranteed rule or law. James Singer in this thread above got hassled on a dead stock car that he polished one piece of his upper intercooler pipe when he was bored and tweaking one day. Took 45 min of googling and coercing and sweet talking the little old man to convince him that the piece actually was stock. In smog school they told him that the F&F illegal shit is always polished so he knew he had an illegal car on his hands.

Other guys get passed on rowdy 550 whp setups. One guy that didnt notice something two years ago on your car may flag you for the same setup this time around. Crooked smog guys, the more they let pass the more they need to fail to keep their pass/fail ratio legit. A total tree hugging legit smog guy may not know anything about EVOs and pass you inadvertently with some minor mods. It is a total crap shoot out there.

Just pay the 250-350 for smog and call it a day... don't even care to waste my time to take my car in for a smog.

Don't forget most Evo owners nowadays are broke, and only own one due to their prices dropping...
