RRE Vs Baka for SST cars

Hi all, I'm about to get a tune for my X MR and can't decide which tuner I go for.
With all the respect to RRE, I've also heard people vote for Baka saying he's one of the more specialized tuners for SST equipped cars.
    What do you guys think?

I think this topic is going to cause a fan boy war, personally I would visit both shops and ask them what they do as far as the SST tables when tuning and what your goals are.

There's been alot of hearsay about RRE blowing motors and then Jon/Baka blowing motors. And the fact that both RRE and Jon/Baka have huge groups of blind followers/supports/fans who will "swear by them" doesn't help.

Edit: ^what he said. Go visit and decide for yourself :) Both are reputable and you honestly can't go wrong with either.

FYI, unless things have changed, RRE doesn't touch the SST tables.

According to Mike: 'Basic stuff is done to make it work with the power that you have, Torque limits are raised. If you have an earlier X with the first gear throttle limit in place we remove that. For the basic tune price we dont mess with the clutch pressures and shifting tables. That can be tedious and involves a lot of personal preference. My idea of smooth might be your idea of harsh or vice versa.'

Tooner wars begin! Lmao All I will say is go to each shop and see what kind of operation they are doing and talk to the tooners. After that make a decision.

before i took my car in i had the same questions. it seems that RRE was more geared towards Evo 8/9 and they don't really touch the SST tables for the MR. I wenti wht 5150 because Jon had experience with the SST tables. The car shifts really good now, u can feel each gear change but it is still smooth. I hit 30 psi and the gauge doesn't move even when i shift gears from 2-6 (1st is useless as I lose traction now, I lose it sometimes in 2nd too).

Yea. That's exactly what my concern is. I know they really made their reputation on CT9A and carried that onto Evo X GSR, but I have a slight feeling that there might be tuners more familiar with SST tuning

thats all i can think of for engine wise for now.

I make about 315 hp and 300 tq on 91 and about 365hp on e85, i forgot the torque, but keep in mind this is on the GMG Mustang dyno and also the MR tranny absorbs alot of power (up to 20% from what ENglish racing told me) but the upside is that it shifts very fast and holds boost between shifts.

We can and regularly do tune SST clutch and shifting tables. My point is that it isnt for everyone. What one guy loves another dont. Peoples are different and want different stuff. We have had guys ask for more and more and then later on go, know what? I want back less some. It isnt a one size fits all. We tune your car for what you want.

why not just only think of tune the SST tables, you think to add oil cooler to the transmission. Maybe if you are going to be aggressive with SST, then a oil cooler will be helpful

RRE has been in one place running one shop for many years. The same cannot be said for the alternate option provided. Consider that when factoring in all of the other information and the why behind it.

    Best of luck

Jon aka BAKA tuned my 2010 MR with Bolt-Ons. The SST feels so much better.
