    evo 9 transfer case

I apologize if there's already a thread about this topic but I think my transfer case is doing some whining. I hear a whining sound when I get past 30-35mph. the sound is there whether I'm in or out of gear. I YouTubed some death whine videos and it sounds similar but I can't be certain. the whine seems to be in sync with the speed I'm driving at...present during accel and decel. if anyone can help me out...even just some insight would be appreciated. hopefully the guys at massimo can check it out early this week! btw...only 60k on my car. brand new clutch less than 2k ago. ACT clutch has a lotta chatter...doubt that has anything to do with it tho. I rarely drive my car hard. I'd say maybe once or twice a week is about all I ever go semi hard on it

for me it was the transfer case.... drain the fluids in the tcase and see if there are any metallic shavings or discolored fluid.

the rear diff drain bolt was super clean compared to the tcase bolt but Gilbert at MP said tcase shows normal wear. fluids were not discolored. everything seemed normal. it's just the whine when my foot is on the gas. sound goes away when I let off throttle. no metal chunks or anything. super fine shavings but he said that's normal

beautiful TC.. specially if it has Wavetrac. You may need to complete the break-in period and track the car :)

Thats exactly where it's headed. Should match up well with my Weir Max LSD in the rear.

Installed the new transfer case with wavetrac.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Easily one of the best mods i've made on my car.

RRE did my T-Case with the Wavetrac and I agree, with a Jack's Transmission and Muellerized competition rear diff, the car does so much more and feels so much better in hard cornering. Mine is an VIII though, so everything is mechanical, which is just amazing at this level. Some of these things are stuff people are just going to have to do. death is immanent!!

Been driving my car harder and harder and i must say the Wavetrac/Transfer Case and Rear Diff upgrade is probably my favorite modification thus far. Loving it!

Mine was replaced at RRE, but I picked TRE with the cover. I like how it feels, but still pending to hit the road to provide a better feedback from a cruise in a mountain.

I'm hoping a rebuild will suffice. I don't think I need a full upgrade...won't be making that much power

This is your best bet IMO.
    http://www.jackstransmissions.com/co...taged-rebuilds
TONS of good info on his site.
If you are like me though, you are fooling yourself.
I got my EVO when I had been driving civics previously and I was like, "This is exactly what I wished my Civic was! I will NEVER change this car!!"
    now
    2.3
    built trans.
    built diffs.
    full suspension
    FML.

Nevertheless, if you have more self restraint and are not an idiot like me, then Jack's base builds are perfect. You can get a real upgrade without all the doodads.

I really liked dealing with Jack's and they were fast!!

I had a good experience as well with jack's.
