Evo IX GSR SE & a Miata!
Some new goodies from our partners at Manley Performance. Motor will be 10.5:1 2.1 liter 4G63. The stock block has served well for 3 years plus of hard abuse. We did a compression check just before SLB, and it still read 165 PSI accross all four. My Evo IX wasn't anywhere near these compression levels running Evo Scan for 3 years of hard abuse and 50whp less for the majority of it's "tuned" life. And, this is a 2003 block vs a 2006 block!

This is a true testament to the AEM Series 2 ECU's capability in the hands of a very capable tuner at BBR tuning. This guy flys all around the world for AEM tuning various cars at the highest echelons of racing, not just Evo's, so his breadth of knowledge on engine calibration is superior to most tuners out there.

Billet crank, sweet! Beau Brown kills it. I've seen that guy work some magic on a buddy's car. Thanks for sticking with the updates by the way. Some nice hardware in here, and i'm looking forward to seeing the car out there in person.

Some bad ass build here. That billet crank is so bad ass.. you will love that setup. This is exaclty what i have under on my car..

Nice! How do you like you new motor set up compared to your stock set up? What turbo are you running and was there a noticeable difference in spool and power?

I had a 2.1 destroke high comp setup before. 2.4 block and stock evo 8 crank. Made 743awhp and 605 awtrq at 34psi on e85 on ets 6262 turbo kit. I went back to 2.0 and did the 2.1 stroker kit from manley (94mm billet crank, long rods and their 10.5 pistons). At 30psi i made 750awhp and 635 awtrq on e85 and ets 6262 turbo kit. Im super happy with it.. i cant wait to try the new curt brown head if theres any power difference..

Nice numbers!!! What dyno? what is your spool like?

  11. #71
This was on a dynopack.. if i remember correctly it his full boost at 5k to 5200rpm.. the only time i look down at the guage cluster is when im about to shift lol.. i do take her up to 9500rpm..

  12. #72
We do alot if street tuning at the track.. they have a long straight away road here that we use to tune cars lol.. we only strap our cars on the dyno to get some numbers but majority we do real time load and street tuning.. she is actually back up to 34psi now since we last dyno tune it mid last year at 30psi. And that extra 4psi is very noticeable..lol.. i dont drive her much and when i do and get on boost, i still get shaky hands after a run or two or more lol..

We've been playing with the idea of upgrading to a 8374 but on the built 2.0 we think it will be a little too laggy for road racing. Hoping Beau Brown can squeeze out every ounce of power out of the 7670.

  14. #74
Yah the 6262 is laggy imo.. i think a fpblack dbb would be a good setup on a fully built 2.0 for road race imo.. but who knows..

  15. #75
But the ti wheel on the 7670 will definately help and faster spoolup too.. i think that will be a good route to do for roadrace setup and still make good power..

  16. #76
The 7670 is a great turbo.. Spool is Almost stock like. I'm just not sure how top end friendly it is when we get up there in power. We'll see how the changes we've made do when we put it back on the dyno.

Just some updates on the build. We took stock block out as I have had this built motor for 3 years waiting for the stock block to let go but it didn't. We want to push more power safely so we decided to throw the built block in. While motor was out we sent the Trans of to TRE to get the ultimate ratio Tranny with theJDM 5th gear and HKS 4.11 Final drive installed. It has been shot peened, blueprinted and etched for smoother engagement. Didn't know it was going to come with his trans cooler too so it was an awesome add. We threw in the new Exedy Twin disk to hold the power we are hoping to make with this motor. All the Fab work of the front end and install of motor has been done with the help of my good friend over at CMBuildz Chris Marrero. Go like his page @cmbuilz on instagram to check out start up video.

Wasp Composites finished the mold last night. Hoping to have it finished and mounted on Friday, although unpainted. Shooting to make it to Redline Time Attack Round 3 at Chuckwalla this weekend. It will be primarily a shake down since everything is all new (brakes, aero, engine, data acquisition), but if we do well and or get reset the record, it will just be icing on the cake.
