For those with tuned ECUs, any problems passing the new STAR OBD2 smog test?
I fully understand that the visual is another story..

you mean the one that they hook the ODB2 only, no tail pipe snipping test? Yes! I tested my 2010 MR with RRE tuned ecu on last 11/2014 and passed easily.
Should we be keeping our cats in the closet just in case for state ref, or at this point should we just take off the heat shield and weld it to our testpipes?
U should put ur stock cat back on, cause they will fail your visual

I know this is late, but I passed my smog on Saturday with a tune.
You over-estimate the aptitude of a significant portion of smog techs. You'd be surprised what you can get away with if the tech just doesn't feel like burning the calories. I've seen it with my own eyeballs.
Also, it's not that hard to fool the secondary o2 sensor. More importantly, the secondary o2 sensor can be deleted from the equation entirely, and the monitor set to ready or pass or whatever. http://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ecu...8590015-a.html
So as long as you have a tech that is lazy, in a hurry, or just plain DGAF, as long as the car doesn't have any glaring emissions system modifications, passing the visual is not that tough.
..and the last thing that we want to do is discussing this topic in a public forum.
This is all purely hypothetical.
