    Flex fuel

    Its been a few months since i read this flex fuel kit from 5150 hit the streets, anyone running this set up?, whats your experience with it, idk if i should get a dual tune or just pay the extra money and get this flex fuel thing...

    5150 flexfuel tuned 14/ww CZ4A/07 CT9A MR
    I'm running it, it works fine, but when I went back to pure 91 it didn't seem to like it (or maybe I didn't like it), so I threw in $5 of e85 and it ran better. it was reading e10. I did run like 50 miles on just the 91. in the end you just become addicted to the e85 anyway.

    I would have it done: cause you don't have to worry about running down your tank, just get close to empty and switch, no jugs no worries. you never know, I pulled up to stations where the internet said there was e85 and they were out, or waiting for it. so there is that, I live two blocks from a person pump =þ I even know the drivers name: jeff doner...yeah I know right...

    on e85 its your basic e85 TBE, and such on 91. with expected numbers.

    I did pull two codes, from some of the super cold nights shortly after start up. I went up to get them read but: when I started the car again they were gone. cold something something I guess.

    its $400 bucks on top of your basic E85 set up. n+ you get all the new modx stuff too from v3 if you need that stuff.

    its been about 1500 miles on it. 90% e85 10% 91


    ADD: you could totally sand bag too for a race, tell'em you on 91 prove it by pumping some 91...profit???

    How's the E85 in SoCal right now? Watered down or do we still have 85% ethanol available?

    persons is reading from 77-83%

    propel is 74-79%

    that's just me filling up a slow flash at each place. I'm sure its varies from tanker to tanker.

    they only tune you for e70 anyway so, they are both work just fine.

    this is funny, but I think e85 smells like the water from canned corn. it tastes sweet too.

    I was about to get a dual tune with 5150. Might go with the flex fuel then. Should be less of a hassle?

    They tune you for whatever fuel you have in your tank when you get tuned. If you have a good blend of E85 when you go get tuned, you're tuned for a good blend of E85. They will (should) tune conservatively so that if you're running a slightly worse blend of E85, it shouldn't be a problem.

    Flex fuel is more for filling up with E85 when you have a half tank of 91 left or vice versa. If you normally switch fuels when the tank is almost empty, you're fine with just a dual map tune.

    Damn that really sucks. I've never read lower than 80% over the last two years in SoCal and NorCal 0_o
