    Evo 9 RS

New to SoCal and Evo Scene!

    Hey all!

Moved to SoCal about a year ago from Australia, and have just recently picked up an Evo 9 RS! Stoked to be back in the seat of some Jap Turbo goodness.
Already in love with the car.
Picked the car up from a dude originally from Oregon. Has 73K miles on it with GSC cams, no name exhaust, ETS IC and intake, AEM meth injection, and XXR wheels (to be replaced)
A great starting ground. With a little TLC and attention I hope to build this thing into a sweet little traffic weapon and track car.

    Pictures, of course.

Very cool. Welcome and hope to see you around.

Glad to hear you'll be finding a new home for those wheels :) Haha. Know what you'll be replacing them with?

As cliche as it is, I was planning on RPF1s due to the lightweight-ness of them, and cost savings. That or the NT03's. Undecided yet.

+1 for the RPF1's, weight and cost can't be beat. Only downside I think for Evos are the size options are a bit weird and usually end up requiring spacers to be able to run the flat faced ones.

That’s exactly what I’ve been reading.
The only way around not going spacers I believe is going a staggered offset, +15 front and +38 rear I believe. But then you got two different looking rims. I think I will just have to suck it up and put in a spacer for the front. Will be sure to get the ICHIBA hubcentric spacers. The rears seem like they can fit easier, maybe with just a little rolling required.

So the face of the +15 and +38 look the same, it's only behind the face that is different. On the +15 there is just more meat on where it connects to the hub which is what gives it that offset. You may not need much fender work in the rear with +38 it really depends on the tires you run. I recently switched to the 17x9.5 +38 all around on 255/40/17's and the rears fit excellent with my fenders rolled. I had to run a 20mm spacer up front to clear the Brembos though.

Pretty much exactly what I was planning on doing was +38, the only problem is trying to find them in black!! Do they even make a 17x9.5 +38 in black or will I have to buy them in silver and powdercoat them?

You'll have to paint them. Black only came in terrible offsets and widths for the Evo like +45 on a 17x8 or so.
